165 lenders, and why one point of contact still matters.

30 June 2026 · 4 min read

A panel of over 165 lenders sounds impressive, and it is useful, but a long list is not, by itself, an advantage. Applying to twenty lenders at once leaves a trail of hard searches and a stack of near-identical rejections. The value is not the breadth of the panel; it is knowing, before you apply, the handful of lenders whose appetite matches your case today.

Appetite shifts constantly. A lender who loved your sector last quarter may have filled their book this one. Someone whose whole job is placing cases sees those shifts in real time, and steers your application toward the desks most likely to say yes, first time, with terms worth having.

The second half of the value is ownership. One point of contact who understands your business, packages the case properly and stays with it through underwriting means you are not re-explaining your figures to a new voice every week. That continuity is often the difference between a facility that completes and one that quietly stalls.

And when your own bank is genuinely the cheaper route, we will tell you. Saying so costs us a fee and earns us the next three enquiries.
